Inspiration Blog, #3; Bands.

So, I like a lot of different bands. Local bands, unknown bands, and well known bands. Some really good local bands that I like are Holliana Krucifex, and Undead Talent. Both of these bands have members that happen to be students of FLC. Some other really good bands that I like are Escape The Fate, A Day To Remember, Get Scared, Motionless In White, and Bullet For My Valentine. These bands happen to be well known bands, to people that like metal. Unknown to people that don't. The reason that I adore these bands so much is that they have wonderful lyics, and are very talented. The local bands that I like happen to be my friends, (Undead Talent), and my boyfriend's band, (Holliana Krucifex). These bands also have great lyrics, and work hard to create great music. They're really inspiring to me, because it shows me that I can actually chase after my dreams without being afraid to fall.

Inspiration Blog #2; All I Want.

So, here are two quotes from a song called 'All I Want,' by A Day To Remember. Obviously, they're my favorite quotes from the song. They're the ones that stand out to me the most. And, the official music video's included. Enjoy! :)

Creatures; Inspiration Blog, #1.

Lately I've been really obsessing over a song called 'Creatures', by Motionless In White. It's just something about the speech in the beginning of the video that I really love. Watch the video. I'm sure you'll love it too.

Blog Entry #3; The Declaration Of Independence.

In my opinion, I don't necessarily belive that the Declaration of Indepence was a sucess or a failure. First off, I don't believe it was a failure because the declaration did give people some independence. However, not everyone recieved that independence. Many people were still told what to say and when to say it. Which brings me to the point of it not being a success either.
As already stated, not everyone recieved independence. In fact, few did. For example, we are supposed to granted the freedom of speech, however children and adults of a lower power are taught to not disrespect their elders, or anyone in a higher class than them. That's just the 'proper' way, apparently. We're also supposed to be granted freedom of religion too, however if someone chooses not to believe in religion as a whole, they are often frowned upon by people that strongly believe in religion.
Another thing that I'd love to point out is the fact that the declaration states that if we are not granted this 'independence,' we are allowed to 'overthrow' the government. However, today, if we try to defy the law, and the government, the only thing that's going to be thrown is us, in jail.

Blog Entry #2; Our proposal.

Our group feels that we should not celebrate Columbus Day. This was a mutual agreement, because we don't feel that Columbus necessarily deserves a day of recognition. Personally, I feel this way because Columbus didn't do much for America. I mean, sure he 'discovered' it, but technically, he didn't. When Columbus came to America, Native Americans were already here, therefore meaning that they did America before Columbus even thought about coming here.
I feel that we should change Columbus Day, to a day that honors the Native Americans, and gives them recognition. We should also use the day as a sort of apology to the Native Americans, for harming and killing so many of their people. For that to happen, it was inhumane. I would love to pay the Native Americans back for everything that they did for us, and I would love to give my condolences. It would be incredible to able to do this for the Natives.

Blog Entry #1; Columbus Day.

In my opinion, a country that celebrates a person like Columbus, shouldn't be frowned upon. Do I agree with Columbus Day? No. I don't. However, I don't feel that people who do believe in Columbus Day should be looked down upon. Everyone has their own opinion of things, right? It just so happens that not everyone's opinion is the same, because then the word 'opinion' wouldn't exist.
Obviously, whoever thought of Columbus Day believed we had a reason to celebrate Christopher Columbus. As for me, I honestly don't care about the purpose behind Columbus Day, so yes, I would change it. To me, it doesn't make any sense to celebrate Christopher Columbus, because technically, he didn't 'discover' America. It was apparently already here, and people were too. Those people were the Native Americans.
Now, as for what it says about people who celebrates this day, I can only give my opinion. I don't think it says anything about a nation that celebrates this. At least, nothing negative. The same way that we celebrate Christmas, and many others don't, is the same way that America celebrates Columbus Day. Is it wrong? No. It's simply how things are. That doesn't mean that you personally need to celebrate this day, because no one's frocing you to do so. It's simply saying that yes, the inventor of this day felt Columbus was a great man. That's not so bad, is it?

History mix.

So, instead of making another blog, for right now I'm using this one as my blog for history class. My personal blog will be written on livejournal now, until I convince my mom to pay for a subscription to deadjournal. Anyways, yeah, so this is my official history blog, and stuff.
